"Boomkerk, a Roman Catholic church dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi. Architect Bekkers also designed the rectory at 408 and the Mariaschool at 410 (1916).
When the church was completed, it was the only building in the neighbourhood. No further buildings followed until about 15 years later.
The church succeeded the clandestine church "Het Boompje" (The Little Tree) on Kalverstraat. The church council sold that site to the retail chain Vroom & Dreesmann, which built a department store there."
