One Mod Fix
One Mod Fix is a lightweight no-configuration overhaul for Cities: Skylines.
It improves traffic behavior, city services, taxi stands, public transport stops, outside connections, abandoned building cleanup, and death-wave smoothing.
The goal is simple: make the game more playable with one main fix mod instead of many separate fixes and endless settings.
No settings. No sliders. Just play.

- Smarter traffic flow
- Better lane usage
- Faster emergency response with better overtaking in traffic
- No automatic traffic lights on newly built junctions
- Improved emergency vehicle lane behavior
- Smarter garbage and deathcare dispatch
- Taxi-based recovery for abandoned historical buildings
- Better taxi stand behavior
- Improved bus and trolleybus stop positioning
- Cleaner outside cargo connections
- Abandoned building cleanup
- Death-wave smoothing
- Lightweight fixed rules with no configuration
Traffic
Vehicles use lanes more naturally instead of collapsing too early into one lane. Highway merges, lane splits, ramps, exits, overtaking, slower heavy vehicles, roundabouts, and emergency vehicle lane behavior are adjusted to make traffic feel less broken without turning the game into a traffic-management suite.
Existing player-placed traffic lights are not removed, but newly built or updated junctions should not receive automatic vanilla traffic lights.
City Services
Fire, medical, police, and collapse-response services prefer closer responders first.
Garbage and deathcare use local-first dispatch with a limited farther fallback, so most collection vehicles stay closer to their own area while some can still help farther away when needed.
Garbage trucks can drop obsolete targets and look for another useful task instead of blindly continuing or returning empty too often.
Taxi Stands
Taxi stands are turned into real waiting hubs. Idle taxis can move into taxi stands and wait there for work. Taxi requests prefer taxis already waiting at a stand before falling back to depot-style behavior.
Public Transport Stops
Bus and trolleybus stop positioning is improved so vehicles use stops more cleanly and block traffic less often.
Outside Connections
Outside connection timing is tuned so large passenger and cargo vehicles behave less wastefully at the map edge.
Trains are reduced the most because they are usually the biggest source of outside connection congestion. Ships and planes are reduced more lightly so the city still feels alive.
Abandoned Buildings
Abandoned non-historical zoned buildings are cleaned up quietly in the background.
Historical abandoned zoned buildings are not bulldozed automatically. Instead, the mod treats them as buildings that can be brought back into use.
When recovery is triggered, a taxi is sent to the building as a simple visual signal that someone is moving in and the building is being restored.
This only clears the abandoned state. It does not magically fix the original reason why the building became abandoned, so if the underlying problem in the area is still there, the building can become abandoned again later.
The recovery effect does not spawn citizens, families, or real new residents.
Death-Wave Smoothing
Old-age deaths are spread more naturally over time to reduce synchronized death waves without replacing the full citizen lifecycle simulation.
- It is not a full traffic management suite.
- It is not a replacement for every advanced mod.
- It is not a mod with sliders, menus, or heavy configuration.
It is designed as a simple fixed-rules overhaul for players who want the game to behave better without spending time tuning dozens of options.
This mod overlaps with several popular fix and rebalance mods.
Do not use it together with mods that change the same systems unless you are testing and know what you are doing.
Likely incompatible or redundant mods include:
- Traffic Manager: President Edition / TM:PE
- Transfer Manager CE
- Better Bus Stop Position
- Taxi Stand Fix
- Bulldoze It
- Lifecycle Rebalance Revisited
- Other mods that heavily change traffic, service dispatch, taxi stands, outside connections, or abandoned building cleanup
One Mod Fix was inspired by ideas and behavior from several excellent Cities: Skylines mods.
Big thanks and respect to the authors and contributors of:
- TM:PE[github.com]
- Transfer Manager CE[github.com]
- Better Bus Stop Position[github.com]
- Bulldoze It
- Realistic Population Revisited[github.com]
- Lifecycle Rebalance Revisited[github.com]
This mod is not a copy of those mods. It is a lightweight one-mod overhaul that combines selected practical fixes and custom behavior into a no-configuration package.
This is an early public test release.
Please report issues with:
- Traffic lights appearing automatically on new junctions
- Garbage or hearse dispatch behaving strangely
- Taxi stands not being used
- Bus stops still blocking too much traffic
- Cargo trains, ships, or planes behaving too aggressively or too rarely
- Abandoned building cleanup doing something unexpected
- Death waves still happening too strongly
Feedback is welcome, especially from large cities and long-running saves.
