The Piraeus Port Map is created based on Google maps and has been scale fitted to come as close as possible to a realistic scale with the buildings of the game. The highway and train follow a route similar to that of the actual city of Piraeus, Greece. The Piraeus Port is one of the biggest European trading hubs and of course it has a great network of ship connections.
With enough wide fertile areas and plenty of ore and oil spread across the map you will have no problem setting a wealthy and prosperous city the way you have visualized it.
