The Bay of Cadiz (Tropical Theme)
Cadiz: a beautiful and historic city. One of the oldest urban areas in Europe and traditional home of the Spanish Navy.
I’ve used an imported heightmap of the bay to get the coastline accurate but I’ve levelled (razed!) a lot of the topography to make it playable. The city of Cadiz itself, at the end of the long sandspit, is pretty useless for city building (the city has severe problems in real life with available real estate) but you can play it if you like using the 81-tiles mod (I haven’t tested this though).
The other areas such as San Fernando, Peurto Real, The Arsenal and Trocadero have all been smoothed-out for city building. There’s lots of different land masses on the bay so you’ll need to build lots of bridges to link them up!
All transportation links should be present and correct; I’ve included most of the real-life highways (and junctions) but only one of the two bay road bridges (and it’s high enough to let the boats pass underneath). I’ve put some shipping lanes into the bay area although in real life I’m not sure the larger vessels enter past Cadiz (?). The large cloverstack and the trumpet intersection on the sandspit are by [CTC]Dexter (he make lovely intersections if you haven’t seen them already).
NOTE: if if you want it to look like it does in the screenshots, you’ll need to subscribe to the items in the "Cadiz Collection" linked above. These include a few trees (thanks to MrMaison and TPB), map theme (Tropicity/Desert by OWL) and LUT (Cinematic HD by OWL). I’ve tested a few other themes/LUT and they also look nice, although I prefer the brown/arid look you get with these two by OWL.
This is my second map and I’m having a blast so there’ll probably be more to come…
