Description:

Welcome to the Silverwind Valley!

This is the Mass Transit DLC version of the map. It uses the Two-Way Highway from the DLC as regional road. For the No-DLC version, go here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1355618387

A tranquil valley between mountain ranges, the Silverwind Valley is home to three large lakes, lush forests, alpine meadows, and several waterfalls.

Details:

– A buildable valley surrounded by mountains and meadows.
– Realistic mountains, inspired by the Austrian Alps.
– Three large lakes in the valley, three in the mountains.
– Three waterfalls.
– Suitable for various play styles.
– Available connections: Highway, Rail, Ship, Plane.
– Available resources: Ore, Fertile and Forestry.
– Highway, Rail and Ship available on starting tile.
– Water management. The lakes in the valley all have their own water spawns and drains. The lakes feeding the waterfalls have a spawn per lake.
– Spawn and drain available on the starting tile for easy water and waste disposal (see screenshot!)
– Temperate map.
– Theme: NotSoRocky Hills Map Theme
– Only one custom asset: Generic Tree Pack by Lost_Gecko. These trees are less heavy on your system than the vanilla trees! And they look a hell of a lot better.
– Perfect for a mountain city
– Space for little resorts on top of the mountains.

Designed for use with the 81 Tiles mod. Also playable with the vanilla 9 tiles or the 25 tiles mod.

If you want to play it in a different environment (For instance, winter or European), you can use the Environment Changer (+ Improved Theme Selection) mod.

Why two versions of the map?
Because the vanilla roads don’t make sense in this setting. But I don’t want to force anyone to spend money to use this map, so there’s a version without the Mass Transit road. The ‘No DLC’ version uses the exit lanes in both directions instead. The Mass Transit version is the primary version of the map, and should be used if you own the DLC.

Why did you stop using Vanilla trees?
Because they’re terrible. They look bad(the changes they made to the tree LOD’s make them even worse, whichI didn’t think was actually possible), and they are very, very poorly optimized. The vanilla trees are between 600 and 2000(!) tris per tree.
The trees in this pack range from 332 to 878. Which means you could place two of the largest trees and use less tris than one vanilla tree. And they look a lot more realistic as well!

The map theme you used has Daylight Classic as a required item. Do I really need that mod?
No. Daylight Classic changes the brightness and level of yellow of the game’s colours to before After Dark came out. It doesn’t have anything to do with the actual theme, it just makes the colours look as intended. You can also use a LUT, Relight, and Ultimate Eyecandy to alter the overall colours of the game. (Which I strongly recommend you do, but you don’t have to.)

Why did you use the Temperate version of the Theme, and not the European?
Because the grass colour in the Temperate version better matches the high Alps, where the grass is more yellow due to the environmental conditions. The European version is a lot greener.

LUT used for screenshots: Relight Average.

If you run into any problems or have any questions, please let me know.

And of course all comments, likes and favs are much appreciated! I’d love to see the city you build on it! 🙂
