Yu-Tong never envisioned that he would do Asian Fusion. In fact, he started off cooking authentically flavored southern Chinese food in the mountains of Idaho. However, the reception from the general public was poor since they weren’t used to the clean flavors of his Shanghainese cooking style.
Determined to serve food that would not detract from his heritage but yet be palatable to the majority population, Yu Tong worked at Panda Express for two years. What he found was a complete annihilation of the Chinese cuisine. When he returned, he decided to pursue his own brand of Asian Fusion. Featuring rice cakes, stir fry, and roasted duck, he developed a unique brand of Chinese food that mixed the American style of presentation (think hamburgers) with Chinese style cooked meat. This new style of cooking caught on with the local residents. Today, Panda Kitchen has a wide range of offerings that is suited for anyone within the Skylines community.
