Wonga Beach

Wonga Beach is one of tropical north Queensland’s best kept secrets. Stretching from Rocky Point, at the southern access of Captain Cook Highway, to the Daintree River in the north Wonga Beach is easily accessible and has the best beach walk in the district.

Looking south from Wonga Beach you can see Island Point which shelters the harbour entrance of Port Douglas. The rainforest clad mountain range to the north is called Alexandra Range after a Danish princess who married the Prince of Wales. The rainforest clad mountain range behind Wonga Beach is called Dagma Range after Alexandra’s younger sister.

The Daintree River, Wonga Beach and the beach end of Alexandra Range form a natural funnel when the prevailing south-east trade winds are taken into account and explain why there are no sandflies at Wonga Beach and there are so many different species of mangroves in the Daintree.

It’s best suited for 25 Map Tiles, these are very detailed and optimized. There is a ship route available in the main river.

I specifically designed this map for the map theme Australia Coast HD map theme. The map theme is only recommended, the map is fully playable without it.

Because it’s a really dense forest, i had to plopp more trees than the game allowes – ~500k instead of 250k. Because of that the Unlimited trees mod is listed as dependency.

If you don’t like subscribe to the trees, grass or filler patches, they just don’t appear ingame.
