K208 Low Commercial
A kiosk, or Büdchen, as they are called in German. These tiny structures are still common in many parts in the state of Nordrhein-Westfalen (and elsewhere possibly) and are basically small gas stations, only without the gas – their offerings typically are virtually the same as that of their attatched shops – newspapers, snacks, cigarettes, refreshments, coffee, liquor, you get the picture. Larger kiosks may in fact be more akin to miniature supermarkets, but that kind rather tends to occupy stores at the base level of otherwise residential buildings – the kind prominently featured in Feindbild’s Ruhr series.
Stand-alone versions are typically found at large intersections, near highway exits, or public transit stations, such as this one – it’s located next to a busy tram stop in southwestern Cologne.
