Walt Disney World in Florida is more than just a collection of theme parks and hotels. By agreement when the corporation bought the property, all of the infrastructure and municipal services across the enormous expanse of land is provided by the Walt Disney corporation. Even the police and water utilities are the responsibility of the company.

Multiple millions of visitors a year stay at the many hotels and resorts across the area; indeed, Orlando, Florida has more hotel room capacity than anywhere else on Earth. Across the area, little noticed or seen by tourists, the local population working in the tourism industry lives in housing and apartment developments across the area.

What was once only swampland has become a water management district called Reedy Creek

* Map Theme – Your choice! Map is tropical based, so use any tropical based theme you want. If you like the one seen in some of these screenshots, that’s Central Florida with Cloud Reflections. Please read its page, it does have some limitations in functionality: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1383237331

* Start Square – all versions have at least two connections with traffic balanced between the connections. It may take a little extra time for traffic to reach you. Build it, and they will come.

* Trees – Vanilla has new 1.10 Parklife Free Update trees. Mass Transit version has Leafy Tree Pack by Pdelmo. You get to choose the rest!

* Real Roads & Monorails – Vanilla has basic main highways, Mass Transit version has quite a bit more infrastructure built, including Monorail lines in real location and 1 workshop road. The savegame version has the most detail and has some basic transit lines aready ready for you. I did not put down *all* roads, just major ones, because I figure you all will want to do this yourselves, and also there’s that overlay which will make it very easy to do so. Thanks to Agusingnavy and Arisandi, several of their intersections were used as a basis for intersections in this map!

* Connections – 4x Highway, 2x Rail, 4x Air, 0x Shipping

* Water – Every lake has a water spawn, the start square has powerful start squares to support your new city.

 OVERLAY

You can use the same semitransparent 2K overlay I used to make this map. Download it from here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/p03aicg0n35y3n3/overlay%20WDW.png?dl=0

Use overlay with the Overlayer v2 Mod: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=662933818
Active overlay image is placed here: C:Program Files (x86)SteamSteamAppscommonCities_SkylinesFiles. Whichever overlay you want to be active has to be named overlay.png.

Explanation on water ways for nerds like me:
This is a true to scale map, but obviously the canals are not exactly beautiful nor what they should be: canals.
Indeed, trying to figure out the canals / water management infrastructure was a serious pain in the %(=$.. You’ll see there’s a lot of tiny water spawns throughout – they maintain the water levels in the "canals". Beyond that, in map making the problem is that you cannot place any quays nor any canals inside map editor. Not even workshop ones, which would have been the obvious choice on waterways that small. So what I had to do with the two maps is basically make them as if they were all natural streams, so that’s why many have soft, undulating shorelines along streams. They also had to be larger when making it by hand with land rather than a nice clean canal asset. I decided to let you all decide if you wanted to leave them natural looking or (very easily) plop down a canal! Their size is with that precise thing in mind. You can simply plunk down a canal along a stream, and have minimal to no temporary floods, and the banks of the canal should end up totally even, too, because I made sure the land on both sides is just where it should be to make a nice clean, even shoreline.. So, it was complicated as hell to make those streams by hand, but there’s your explanation. See the Recommended Assets Collection up top^^ of this page for the two Ama Quays (which are actually canals!) to make fancier and slimmer (as in real life) than vanilla canals. I don’t think either will permit ferries, though, so you’ll have to use vanilla canals or leave it natural. Also in the collection are Avanya’s stone quays – there are several from her to choose from. They are a must for your lakes’ shorelines!
