UK Road Project Revived: Medium Roads Pack

Welcome to the UK Road Project Revived. This is the second pack in a series that recreates UK roads as closely as the game will allow.

A map theme ‘UK Roads Revived Map Theme’ has been created to improve the road and pavement textures and give them a more UK look. Other elements of the theme have also been ‘improved’ to give a more polished overall look. The theme doesn’t have to be used but I highly recommend that it is for the complete experience. The road markings may not appear correctly with other themes.

All roads have custom road markings, signs and props that appear automatically depending on context and junction settings. These include UK signs, traffic lights, roadside props and street lights. These assets are available in the ‘UK Road Project: Essential Props’ pack. It is important to subscribe to this pack for the roads to appear correctly.

IMPORTANT: The road pack has cat’s eyes built in to each road which will need to be subscribed to separately for them to show up in game.

To activate ‘Give Way’ and ‘Traffic Lights’ at junctions set either ‘Stop’ or ‘Traffic Lights’ in the ‘Traffic Routes’ ‘Junctions’ info panel.

For those who wish to detail the roads with the greatest realism an additional prop packs are available with many of the UK road signs, road markings and props that don’t automatically appear. See below!

For any props added manually I recommend using the Move It! and Prop Line Tool mods.

I have aimed to keep the file sizes as small as possible but in order to give you the best UK roads the size may appear large. However, the roads share textures allowing the Loading Screen Mod to share them in game and therefore reducing the load on your computer.

As the roads vary in width some buildings may spawn with a gap to the road. I recommend using the Move It! mod to bring them closer to the pavement. To have a realistic variation in road widths this is unavoidable, sorry!

1. 2 Lane, 12m: Roundabout
2. 3 Lane, 15m: Roundabout
3. 4 Lane, 2 Way, 18m: Centre double white lines
4. 4 Lane, 2 Way, 19m: Centre median and bus lanes
5. 4 Lane, 2 Way, 19m: Centre chevrons
6. 4 Lane, 2 Way, 19m: Centre median
7. 4 Lane, 2 Way, 19m: Centre grass median
8. 4 Lane, 2 Way, 19m: Centre tree lined median
9. 4 Lane, 2 Way, 23m: Centre median with parking
10. 4 Lane, 2 Way, 24m: Centre median with bike lanes
11. 6 Lane, 2 Way, 25m: Centre median with bus lanes

Road texture: 1024 x 1024
LOD texture: 256 x 256

The roundabout roads are specifically for creating realistic roundabouts (duh!). They don’t have zoning, road signs, props or pedestrians on the inner pavement. They do have street lights and chevron signs in the middle.

All files in this pack use the same naming structure to speed up ‘Find It’ searches.

MR (Medium Roads)
2L, 3L, 4L or 6L (2, 3, 4 or 6 Lane)
1W or 2W (1 or 2 way)

So, for example, a search for ‘UKR MR 4L’ will find all the four lane medium roads.

These roads have been created to allow both left and right hand drive roads in your cities. As they are UK roads I recommend using right hand drive, but I would, wouldn’t I!

Please try this pack out and let me know, in the comments below, if you have any problems or suggestions. I will endeavour to make this project as good as possible but please remember that the Road Editor is a nightmare to work with so there may be errors and problems that need to be addressed.
