Deep in Canada’s northern boreal forests, at the confluence of the mighty Nechako and the roaring Fraser rivers lies an ancient glacial lake. Since man first walked the continent the area has been used as a meeting place – first by native Americans, then fur traders plying the rivers together. Later, the railroads and highways across the Rockies and up the Fraser River Valley all met here, and today the City serves as a hub for one of the world’s largest forest industries, as well as supporing nearby mines, oil fields, and adventure tourism. Can you craft this flood-prone junction in the middle of the rugged forestlands into a true Northern Capital?
This map was created using 20cm LiDAR data and bathymetric survey data from the Fraser and Nechako rivers. It is as authentic as I was able to make it (the terrain in-game deforms too much around road and rail lines, and some islands had to be raised to allow trees to grow properly).
Yes, the main highway intersection is a level intersection – it’s one of the bigger struggles the real city has, and I encourage you to fix it! Or challenge yourself by keeping it. In reality the highways expand from 2 to 4 lanes once inside the City itself – about a kilometer from each map border. It is left as an exercise for the player when and where to upgrade these highways, or to find alternative solutions for the city.
The map uses approximately 580,000 trees – still a good deal short of reality, but hopefully a good balance between density and performance.
This map was created to be vanilla compatible (except for Mass Transit), however the following mods are recommended for a more attractive and authentic experience:
Prop and Tree Anarchy by BloodyPenguin (Without this many trees will be missing from the map, making it look somewhat sparse)
Catenary Replacer by BloodyPenguin, boformer, and Tim the Terrible(Set this to remove overhead lines from rail tracks for authentic look)

No Radioactive Desert by BloodyPenguin (Use the shoreline option to ensure trees and grass can grow right up to the river’s edge)
BCT-Homecoming Theme by Raffa (Best option I have found to emulate the sand cliffs in the area)Prop it up! by Judazzz and BloodyPenguin (Use to replace vanilla trees with appropriate conifers for the area if desired)
