Kuan Yin Island
Requirements
There’s a one-click-collection for all necessary assets above (LINK).
Of course, you are free to leave out decorative items like bushes and shrubs as you wish.
My Thanks to all the wonderful Asset Creators!
Recommendations
I’ve used the Satellite LUT and Daylight Classic.
You might need (Fine) Road Anarchy to edit the highways and intersections.
I strongly recommend turning off "dead/orange trees at shoreline" with the "No Radioactive Desert and More!" Mod.
The map can be played on 8 tiles, is very much suited for 25 Tiles or 81 Tiles however.
The Coconut Trees might also benefit from the Random Tree Rotation Mod. I’ve never bothered to try it though!
Infrastructure
Ship paths pretty much encircle the islands everywhere. There’s 4 plane connections, too.
The Qiansimen Bridge connects the central island with one highway and one rail connection.
A National Road goes along the beach all around the island.
As the highways don’t lead anywhere, you can easily replace them with your own. If you would like to reuse the 3-Way Pinavia (the big Circle), you can subscribe to it here (Link).
You can also find an explanation why you would even use such an intersection there.
Tides and Water
You can use the Tides Mod with this map. I intended the map standard of 40m sea level to be "medium tide" (Uncheck "Use initial sea level as High Tide" – see Screenshot), with a range of 5 meters (37.5m to 42.5m). You are safe to up the range to 10, but drowning some trees might look a bit funny.
To not have the "river", separating the Buddha Statue from the rest of the island, run dry when you chose not to play with Tides, I simulated sort of an underground water passage.
I’ve also hidden quite a bit of resources below the sand, which might give you an incentive to work with the tides?
Sewage can be kind of a bother on island maps. Hence, I created currents in the central lake, pushing water out of the Start Square Area. The water sources are also quite powerful to counteract the tides.
All other lakes contain water sources/drains, too.
NOTE – Rail Pillars:
As of now, I can’t find a workaround for (some) rail pillars reappearing below the Qiansimen Bridge (possibly causing ships to crash through them). However, they only reappear when you unlock the tiles they’re in. So as long as you don’t "Unlock all tiles" with the 81 Tiles Mod, there’s no issue there. You can also remove them again with Move It.
What does "Kuan Yin" mean?
There are many different spellings for Kuan Yin. They all refer to the Buddhist "Goddes of Mercy", mainly associated with compassion.
I really recommend reading up on the lovely legend of princess Miào Shàn, e.g. in the book "Becoming Kuan Yin: The Evolution of Compassion" by Stephen Levine.
