Pinwheel Interchange
The design for this interchange came to me in a dream. It’s magic. As far as I know, this isn’t an already used interchange design, and how cool is that. Try a CS original interchange.
So the idea here is that the through lanes winds around the left turns, instead of the other way around. It turns out to be a lot easier to build a four-way interchange like that, so I could build a nice smooth interchange that’s only 29×29 blocks, and leave plenty of room for traffic to merge. The highway is trifurcated when it enters the interchange, and through traffic is moved across traffic turning left from the opposing lane, to merge on the near side of traffic entering from the left. It’s sort of a combination of two of my favorite designs, a stack and a full diamond.
It’s pretty effective for anyplace where through traffic isn’t overwhelming predominant. I hope you like it.
