Stately Homes: Hardwick Hall
This groundbreaking and opulent Tudor hall sits on a hilltop between Chesterfield and Mansfield, overlooking the Derbyshire countryside of the United Kingdom. It is the third instalment in my ‘Stately Homes’ series.
Hardwick Hall was designed by Robert Smythson in the late 16th century for Bess of Hardwick, Countess of Shrewsbury (the richest woman in England after Queen Elizabeth I) and it remained in the ownership of her descendants until the mid-twentieth century.
The house was conceived to be a conspicuous statement of her wealth and power. The windows are exceptionally large and numerous at a time when glass was a luxury, leading to the saying, "Hardwick Hall, more glass than wall."
Hardwick was but one of Bess’s many houses. Each of her four marriages had brought her greater wealth; she had been born in the now old Hall at Hardwick, which today is a ruin beside the ‘new’ hall.
The hall has been managed by the National Trust since 1959.
The Hall is constructed using three sections which appear as a single asset in game. In addition to the hall I have included three elements in the pack to help you make the grounds. The ‘Entrance Arch’ is a small building at the front of the grounds which is connected to the ‘Walls’ and ‘Wall Corners’.
The extra assets in the pack and any other props have not been added to the main hall and recreating the walls and grounds is my challenge to you, enjoy!
The pack contains:
1. Hardwick Hall main building.
2. Entrance Arch
3. Prop: Wall
4. Prop: Wall Corner

I’ve tried to make this asset as beautiful as the real building and therefore the geometry tri count is high and the textures large. Most of the texture elements have been created specifically for this asset in order for full control over the final look.
The hall sections share the same textures, as do the wall elements, so if you use the Loading Screen mod the textures will be shared by all the elements and this will reduce any load on your machine.
All files in this pack use the same naming structure to speed up ‘Find It’ searches.
SH (for all stately home assets)
HH (Hardwick Hall, obviously)
P (prop)
So, for example, a search for ‘SH HH P’ will find all the wall props.
The only exception is the main house which is named ‘SH Hardwick Hall’ for clarity.
The separate sections that make up the house will appear in searches (not in the menus) but the main ‘SH Hardwick Hall’ is the one to plop.
I will be adding new houses as and when I am able, so keep checking for updates.
1. Osborne House
2. Little Moreton Hall
3. Hardwick Hall
4. Chatsworth House
If you want to suggest a UK stately home to add to the series feel free to leave a comment and I will see if it ‘takes my fancy’.
Please try this pack out and let me know how it works for you. If there are any problems let me know in the comments below.
If you really, really like my assets please consider making a donation. I’m unable to work because of ill health and do this because I love the positive feedback I get from so many people.
