Assenstraat, Deventer, Netherlands
A small historic building from the town of Deventer, Overijssel, Netherlands. The building dates back to the late medieval period. However, in 1653 the building was given a new facade in Dutch Classicist style. The facade contains a Latin proverb ‘Deo fidendum, mediis utendum’. In the middle of the facade are 4 pilasters in Ionian style. During the 19th century the building was used as a shop, and in the early 1900’s the building received a new lower facade. After a partial demolition in 1978, it was rebuilt in its original state in 1981. Today its facade is protected as a monument.
