Weißenburg – Public library
The "royal bavarian post office", built 1905 to 1906, is a symbol of the post office’s value at that time. When the new post office took over its task in 1966 the building became the home of the city’s public library. In the years between 1999 and 2001 the backyard was turned into a glass-steel building to respond to the growing demand. The building’s architecture is now an interesting mix of modern glass elements, the old stone facade and the hip roof that is common to both the old and new parts of the building.
