Grand Coulee
Grand Coulee – Vanilla Map
This is sort of a 1:1, sort of a fantasy map based around the Grand Coulee Dam in Washington State, USA. The map is centered around the giant hydrodam which is also your start square.
NOTE ON REQUIRED DLC:
Some players have noted that you CAN load the map just fine without the High Tech Buildings CCP. I think you will just be missing the cosmetic "power houses" buildings.
You can also load without Green Cities, however the dam will probably not produce power.
NOTE ON THEMES AND DAM APPEARANCE:
The map is playable 100% Vanilla (if you have the required DLC).
One commenter suggested the CoosBay theme, which I endorse. Probably my favorite now for the map.
I also like the "NotSoRocky" series.
Also, try painting the dam with the Surface Painter mod for more realism. Use pavement or gravel textures. Combine with Theme Mixer mod for ultimate customization.
OTHER GRAPHICS MODS SUGGESTED:
Relight
Ultimate Eyecandy
Daylight Classic
Sharp Textures
Dynamic Resolution
GAMEPLAY
I made it playable for 9, 25, or 81 tiles. I prefer playing with 81 tiles. However I did do a 100% vanilla playthrough up to about 40k population so you should have no problems. You will have to purchase your 9 tiles wisely.
OUTSIDE CONNECTIONS
— 3 Highway
— 3 Rail
— 2 Ship
— 2 Plane
You’ll notice some wonky terrain at the edges where I had to cram the ship paths in. Apparently the map editor requires ships to enter at “sea level” which is tough when you want them to use large lakes up in the mountains!
TREES
I used about 100,000 so you have another 150,000 to place

CONTRAFLOW LEFT
This is my second map, and I gave myself the challenge of using just vanilla assets. I stretched that to include several DLC which had assets that I thought looked great.
You start square comes with water and sewage hook-up if you are playing with Green Cities DLC. You also get a sweet 1400 MW electricity from the dam! I hope the plentiful, cheap electricity draws people far and wide to move to your mountain city.
The infrastructure is probably not too realistic, but I did make an effort to keep highways and interchanges away from your buildable space. Much of the rough terrain is true to the area, however I smoothed some areas for better gameplay.
The terrain itself is much more lush and green than reality. I’d say this takes place in a timeline where climate change has supercharged the snow-melt coming down from the rockies and dramatically changed the climate of the region.
Required DLC:
These DLC should be installed in order to use this item.
