Description:

This map is based on the mountains surrounding La Spezia, Italy. Vetrale is a little town north of La Spezia and I just chose it for the name. Hills, rivers, and additional land mass have been added/modified for playability. A lot of experimenting with rivers and mountains was done to get the look I was going for. I recommend loading the map in the map editor and exploring it before you start a new game (or using 81 Tile mod). The playable areas are mostly rolling hills, so this is for someone who is interested in a city with varying terrain and the interesting things you can do with that. I think it would be great for a city with outlying towns.

Outside Connections:

Roads: There are four outside highway connections near the four corners of the map with three main highways that all intersect (A 6 lane, 4 lane, and 2 lane highway – hence the need for Mass Transit DLC).
Rail: There is one rail line crossing the map using two outside connections at opposite corners of the map.
Shipping: There are four shipping connections, two that go to the large bays and one that crosses the map.
Air: There are two cross map routes.

Required items:

The map requires the custom Vetrale Mountains theme, the Mass Transit DLC for the extra highways and Relight for the LUT (see Lighting below). There are also a few trees and the suspension bridge as well. I’d like to thank all the asset/mod creators on steam, and in particular those who created these assets. This map would not be the same without them.

Lighting:

All screen shots were created using the Relight Average LUT from the Relight mod. However, no mods were enabled when taking the shots (including Relight), except for the puffy cloud shots (see below). I just used day/night cycle of the game. When you subscribe to Relight the LUTs will be available in-game under Options->Graphics->Color Correction Override, without enabling it. If you are using the Ultimate Eyecandy mod you would need to set Longitude=90.195 and Latitude=16.615 to approximate the theme settings so the stone pillars on the tall hill with the ruins makes sense. You’ll also get the sunsets and sunrises in the position intended for this map. Setting Global and Ambient Light Intensities to around 4.2/1.2 will give you the same look. If you also have Relight mod enabled, you’ll need to bump these up even more.

Of course, everyone has their own preferences, so you may find something else you like better.

The two screen shots with puffy clouds were taken with the Daylight Classic mod enabled and selecting "Classic Fog Effect" (and if needed "Allow Classic fog effect if day/night cycle is on") ONLY. (Selecting other settings conflicts with using the Relight LUT and doesn’t really make sense).

Other stuff:

If you use the Traffic Manager (TMPE) mod, you might want to lower the speed limit on the two lane country highway. With the default speed the drivers kind of act like maniacs on the curves. 🙂

Be careful deleting rocks in the rivers. Some of them control the river and without them may cause flooding.
