Brazilian Service 2 – UPA 24h
Emergency Care Unit, for short UPA or UPA 24h, is a kind of health post installed in several cities in Brazil. They are responsible for concentrating health care of medium complexity, composing a network organized together with primary care and hospital care. The units also have the objective of reducing the queues in the emergency rooms of hospitals, preventing cases of less complexity from being sent directly to hospital units, in addition to expanding the service capacity of the Unified Health System (SUS).
