[Excerpt from Wikipedia]
The C-HR is a coupe SUV manufactured and sold by Toyota Motor Corporation.
The Iwate plant of Toyota Motor East Japan (TMEJ) is in charge of production.
As Toyota’s next-generation global strategic vehicle, it is a compact crossover SUV that is deployed in 100 countries around the world.

The concept car appeared as a crossover that combines the three advantages of the RAV4, Prius, and 86.

It was developed with a focus on athletic performance, which is rare for an SUV in the same price range, such as driving tests on various roads around the world including the Nürburgring, steering on general roads in Europe, and tuning of shock absorbers.
By pursuing "response," "linearity," and "consistency," the concept of "driving at my will" is thoroughly pursued, and "seasoning" unique to C-HR is performed.

At the Nürburgring 24-hour race just before the launch, an attempt was made to introduce the "C-HR Racing," which was a prototype car tailored to race specifications.

Hiroyuki Furuba, who was in charge of the development chief, is known for his car enthusiasts who have attended the FJ1600, 86 / BRZ races, and Suzuka Clubman races by going to the circuit during his work.

This model is a minor change model. As for the appearance, the air intake is widened to the left and right, and the front fog lamps equipped on the "G" and "G-T" are placed above the air intake.
In addition, "G" and "GT" use the LED clearance lamp as a double function of daylight and turn lamp (one has two functions), and the rear combination lamp flows from the inside to the outside when turning left or right. A sequential turn lamp that lights up is adopted.
The "S" and "S-T" headlamps are parabolic LEDs. "Orchid brown" was set for "G" and "G-T" as the interior color.

In addition, "GR SPORT", which is one of the sports car series "GR" by TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, has been newly set (set as "S" GR SPORT "" and "S-T" GR SPORT ").

The Chinese version released in May 2018 through "GAC Toyota" is equipped with the newly developed 2.0L naturally aspirated (2.0L Dynamic Force Engine).
In addition, the sister car "IZOA" sold by "FAW Toyota" was also released for China at the same time.

On April 16, 2020, the C-HR and IZOA electric vehicle models were unveiled for the first time in the world at the Shanghai Motor Show in China.

It will be the first Toyota brand electric vehicle to be introduced to China, and it has been announced that it will start selling in 2020.

The platform uses "TNGA," which was first adopted in the 4th generation Prius released in December 2015.

This is the second model to use the TNGA platform.

It is also the first TNGA model to be a pure internal combustion engine vehicle without a hybrid.
The suspension uses a newly developed MacPherson strut type suspension at the front and a double wishbone type suspension at the rear.
In addition, Sachs SACHS absorber is standard equipment. It contributes to good riding comfort as well as high body rigidity.
Also, in the Prius, there are many specially designed parts such as changing the bush made of rubber to metal to improve handling.

The initial lineup was 1.8L hybrid (2ZR-FXE type) for 2WD vehicles and 1.2L turbo (8NR-FTS type) for 4WD vehicles.
At the time of partial improvement in May 2018, 2WD was additionally set for the 1.2L turbo car.
The 4WD system is the "Dynamic Torque Control 4WD" that was adopted in the Harrier in advance, and the driving force is distributed to the rear wheels not only when predicting slippage but also in response to a slight steering angle on the paved road. It has become so.

In terms of aerodynamics, the rear spoiler was installed instead of the side spoiler that is normally installed so that the design is not sacrificed.
The underside of the car was also redesigned from scratch for aerodynamic development.
Regarding safety, collision avoidance support type pre-crash safety with pedestrian detection function, radar cruise control with all vehicle speed tracking function, lane departure alert (with steering control), collision avoidance support package "Toyota Safety" that includes automatic high beam "Sense P" is standard equipment on all models.

The compact crossover SUV market, to which the C-HR belongs, has more users who place more importance on interior and exterior design than other markets, so we are very particular about the design.
The external design was developed with the aim of realizing the designer’s wishes as they are.

With "Sensual Speed-Cross" as the keyword, we pursued an original style such as a cabin shape with a sense of speed, sculptural surface modeling, a body strongly narrowed down with a "diamond" motif, and a large overhanging wheel flare. There is.

Emotional design expressions such as Toyota’s design motif "Kean Look" and under-priority have realized a distinctive styling that boldly combines lightness and strength. In addition, the rear outside door handle is integrated with the body to suppress its presence, giving the impression of a two-door coupe. This dynamic design has been highly acclaimed around the world and was selected as one of the three finalists of the World Car Design of the Year 2017.
