Description:
Xblock Breakwater Unit

"The Xbloc system is based on randomly placed, interlocking concrete armour units. It has been applied successfully in breakwaters and shore protection projects on 6 continents in block sizes ranging between 1.8 and 40 ton."
-Xbloc, Delta Marine Consultants[www.xbloc.com]

This is a rough model of the Xbloc breakwater "armor unit" which is used on breakwaters around the world to protect coastlines and maritime infrastructure. I used a few diagrams and metrics on their website to approximate the dimensions and I think I’ve achieved something fairly close. These are similar to the classic tetrapod developed in 1950[en.wikipedia.org], however I enjoy the updated shape. Tetrapods are a staple on Japanese coasts, but I think this modern iteration lends itself to the contemporary city aesthetic.

This network is complemented by my Xbloc Prop Pack, which comes with three different props of varying sizes for detailers and adding to networks you’ve put down.

READ THIS:

Due to the way Cities: Skylines handles networks, this asset WILL stretch or squish according to how it’s placed. The segment length is approximately 64 meters (8u // 8 squares) long. Placing the network in lengths of 8u will get the best visual results. I highly recommend you use the Move It! mod by Quboid to lower the nodes on the segment closer to the ground to make it look better. Quay Anarchy by BloodyPenguin will likely help you place as well. In order to let this asset hug the ground (clip), it WILL NOT BLOCK WATER like a quay would. If people want a version that actually resists water, I can do that.

Specs:

Tris per segment(8u): Main 5,290 // LOD 1,322
Texture: Main 1024×1024 (d, n, p, r) // LOD 128×128 (d)

I’m more than welcome to feedback regarding the texture. It looks fine in vanilla, but I’m not sure about other visual settings or LUTs. I might brighten the texture.
