Take control of your messy toolbar with Dynamic Asset Sorter. This mod allows you to customize the order that assets are displayed in toolbars, without creating local copies that clutter up your local assets folder. It also has a setting to interchangably sort vanilla and custom assets, so you can place that custom asset in the right order according to it’s stats. You can even hide assets that you don’t want to use, including networks and transport line tools, and it works on a category basis, so you can hide duplicate asset icons. While I still recomend using the Loading Screen Mod for skiping buildings, this is great for hiding networks, like if you have a bunch of roads that you don’t use. Check out this link for an example config to get started.[github.com] Also check out this file to learn the panel names needed for hiding icons.[github.com] More info about configuration can be found in the above two links.

Technical

This mod works by dynamicaly altering the UIPriority value of Asset prefabs, which is responsible for asset ordering in the UI. It also patches a few vanilla methods to allow for sorting custom assets interchangably with vanilla ones. Keep in mind that assets use a single priority value, even if they appear multiple times. Note that hiding all assets in a panel will result in an empty panel, and that sometimes using the vanilla filter buttons can leave you with an empty panel if the only assets that are categoried under that filter are hidden. Hidden assets are still loaded in the game, and you can still load saves with assets that you’ve decided to hide. They’re just hidden from the UI. You can even still access them from the Find It mod, except for transport line tools like the blimp line, since they’re not really assets in the traditional sense.
