Castle Harbour
Greetings!
Here is the (first) map I built ground up for my next build idea and thought I’d share.
Features and Inspiration
– Realistic European – Inspiration taken from flying over Southern England (with a backdrop mountain to improve the vista). Capable of accommodating a mega city or small towns/villages. Flat and undulating terrain. 165k trees. 75% Building area.
– Low dependency – Can play 100% vanilla but recommend Move It for linking to some of the road network and Realistic theme. No assets but Mass Transit DLC required for added roads and policy
– Designed for the 9 or 25 tile player wanting detail in tiles that can’t be reached
– Abandoned engineering – Scattered derelict industrial and agricultural facilities, construction roads, and human impact on environment ready to be bulldozed, repurposed or gentrified
– Realistic shipping (no crazy mobs of empty ships) – 4 routes that are not linked but can be be in the editor if you so wish. No "shipping clipping"
– Realistic river banks, coastlines and currents – no raging torrents and crazy looking high banks. However be cautious with flooding when terraforming!
– Strong initial high speed network (4 rail & 4 road connections) that diverts national traffic away from city centre including 1 "magic tunnel"
– Several possible self contained locations for sewage treatment and water supply
Bugs and Issues
– "Blue mantle" – a couple of locations that couldn’t be avoided (cuttings/embankments). Can BonbonB find them?
– Tested in game engine but only within 25 tiles therefore may be edge of map "sharks teeth" particularly where there is craggy coastlines and very small "lumpy bumpies" where networks traverse from owned tiles to map editor rendered areas
– High speed rail points will have "catenary chaos" as prefer this to trains slowing down and lurching drunkenly through points
