Cinema Ocean
The Ocean Cinema offers its services for watching a movie in the city of Vladivostok. The first large and large cinema in the Far East. Built during Soviet times in 1969.
The project of the cinema was developed at the Moscow Institute of Giproteatr by architects G.K. Machulsky and B.I. Levshin. An original two-story structure on the combined volumes of different characteristics: an elliptical cylinder located on a one-story spread-out parallelepiped. The main area of the facade is occupied by huge stained-glass windows; a wide staircase leads from the roadway to the building. The foyer of the cinema is decorated with a mosaic panel on a marine theme with an area of more than 330 m2, made by Moscow artists under the direction of T. Partikin.
Since September 2003, Okean has become the main venue for the Pacific Meridian International Film Festival of the Asia-Pacific Region. The annual French film festival is also held here.
