Description:

[Excerpt from Wikipedia]
GOLF is a car manufactured and sold by Volkswagen.
In October 2019, the 8th generation model was announced in Germany. It uses the 48V mild hybrid system "eTSI" and functions as a compact and lightweight generator that applies an electrical boost at start-up to increase drive torque.

"GOLF" is derived from "Der Golfstrom" which means "Gulf Stream" in German. Therefore, it has nothing to do with sports golf.

While other Volkswagen models (Sirocco, Jetta, etc.) released around the same time are named after the wind, the name "Golf" is named after the ocean current.

However, one of the causes of the Gulf Stream is the trade wind, so it is not a word completely unrelated to the wind.

The trade wind is "Passat" in German, which is adopted as the model name of Volkswagen Passat.
