Western Union Building
A massive, 24-story Art-Deco office and telecommunications tower located at 60 Hudson Street, New York.
Built in 1928-1930 as the headquarters of Western Union, then after its relocation to another place it became a telecommunication center and one of the biggest internet hubs in the world.
Designated as New York City landmark in 1991.
This project was a big challenge for me. I started it about a month ago, then got distracted (twice), after that I decided to redo it completely a couple of times,
and I was constantly unhappy with how it looked in the game, but in the end I decided to give up and present it to the community.
There are many small decorative elements in this asset, it was quite difficult to squeeze them without ruining by texture compression.
Also the amount of cooling equipment on the roof is just enormous. And setbacks, lots of them.
Even brickwork is unique here, the original was build using 19 shades of brick, going from darker to lighter as the building rises. I’ve tried to recreate this, at least partially.
Key features:
– Plenty of decorative elements
– Detailed roof
– Radio tower included (but it is quite small)
– Irregular footprint (one facade at an angle)
– Complex brick pattern with gradient
– Best LOD I ever made
Enjoy!
