Description:
European | 1:1 Scale | ‘Railway 1’ & Vanilla Rail Map Versions

My third map release tries to be a 1:1 representation of the city of Regensburg in eastern Bavaria, at the confluence of the Danube, Naab and Regen rivers. It is capital of the Upper Palatinate subregion of the state in the south of Germany. With more than 150,000 inhabitants, Regensburg is the fourth-largest city in the State of Bavaria after Munich, Nuremberg and Augsburg. From its foundation as an imperial Roman river fort, the city has been the political, economic and cultural centre of the surrounding region. The medieval centre of the city is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. An aerial overlay is provided so you can recreate the city.

Instructions
  1. Subscribing will download two versions of this map ‘Railway 1’ and ‘Vanilla Rail’.
  2. Subscribe to all assets and mods within the relevant linked collection
Regensburg: Required Items Pack 1 – Required for both maps.
Regensburg: Required Items Pack 2 – Required for ‘Railway 1’ map.
  3. If you don’t want to use the Theme Mix then simply use the base theme ‘SCT NatureReserve’. Recommended visuals settings below.
  4. *Optional* Subscribe to the ‘Advanced Vehicle Options’ mod and your choice of optional vehicles within the linked Regensburg: Vehicle Collection.
  5. Start Cities Skylines, enter Content Manager to activate any new mods and set ‘Unlimited Trees’ to 6 or higher.
  6. Map is now ready for playing. Choose map version to play – ‘Regensburg – Railway 1’ or ‘Regensburg – Vanilla Rail’.
  7. ‘Railway 1’ Version – Any railway catenary and props must be selected in the Railway Replacer by pressing SHIFT + ALT + P. Familarise yourself with the Railway Replacer Mod and Railway 1 Collection You can upgrade to ‘Railway 2’ European assets when released.
  8. *Optional* Deactivate the spawning of vanilla cargo ships and ocean liners with ‘Advanced Vehicle Options’.
  9. Setup TM:PE – Traffic Manager President Edition: Use the lane connector tool to prevent cars from turning in the highway intersections with traffic barrier visible, see final screenshot above.

The highways, rail and tree packs share textures allowing the Loading Screen Mod to share them in game and therefore reducing the load on your computer.

Map Info
  • Road: 4 / 4 connections including the A3 and A93 motorways that connect at the Kreuz Regensburg Junction (the max 4 connections set in the editor, more can be added in-game using mods with potential additional points of connection defined)
  • Railway: 4 / 4 connections
  • River route: 2 / 4 connections – Land Ships Mod required to float all ships that will otherwise be stuck on map’s border because of too shallow water. There is no through connection, however this can be added in-game using mods.
  • Aircraft route: 4 / 4 connections
  • Trees: 1.4m. Mod required. Placed accurately by aerial overlay.
  • Buildable area: 90% enabling a big city in the 25 tiles and smaller villages elsewhere.
  • Resources: All. Oil has been used to denote industrial areas including the BMW factory.
  • Waterflow: Shallow rivers to realistic depths. Use mods.

Visuals

The visuals are your choice, but I used Daylight Classic with the Regensburg Theme Mix and Radasbona LUT. If you are having issues getting the map to look like the screenshots then please follow the below steps.

  1. (if Ultimate Eyecandy is subscribed) Enter Content Manager and disable ‘Load last active preset on start’.
  2. Deactivate Relight (if subscribed) in Content Manager.
  3. Load map and select ‘SCT Nature Reserve’ as base theme.
  4. Load ‘Regensburg Theme Mix’ within the game.
  5. Select ‘Radasbona’ LUT and change ‘Daylight Classic’ settings
    – Classic Sunlight Colour = ON
    – Classic Sunlight Intensity = ON

Heightmap and Image Overlay

The heightmap is based on the accurate data, scaled to 1.1 and centred on 12.08333 Longitude and 49.01667 Latitude.

You can choose a 4k, 8k or 10k aerial overlay, which is available to download[drive.google.com]. I created the map and tree placement using the 10k overlay (my system has 32bg ram). I recommend using the Image Overlay mod by Lanceris. The overlays have an alpha layer and with this mod you can change the opacity "on the fly". 0% means the map is fully visible, at 100% the overlay is fully visible. The first time you load the overlay you need to rotate it into place with Shift+] twice.

Finally…

I’d welcome your feedback and questions via the comments below.
