The third Shin Tokyo city (TOKYO-III) is an aerial city coming up in TV animated cartoon "Neon Genesis Evangelion" and a related work.

Capital Tokyo was destroyed by the attack of "the second impact" that occurred on September 13, 2000 and the new bomb of September 20. The Japanese provisional government which gave up the revival renamed Matsumoto-shi, Nagano to the second Shin Tokyo city as a temporary capital in 2001 and transferred the capital.
"The second removal of the capital plan" was approved in the Diet in 2004 and It hung a construction expense of estimate 50 trillion yen in the Lake Ashinoko (Sengokuhara, Hakone-machi, Ashigarashimo-gun, Kanagawa land ownership neighborhood) as future new capital, the third Shin Tokyo city in 2006 and started construction afterwards by 2015. It becomes going to be transferred the capital after completion by the second Shin Tokyo city.
