Hello Folks,

for today I have another release of tram type which I hold dearly in my heart: the infamous Tatra T4D.
Creating this tram took me nearly two months, a lot of re-adjusting, bug fixing and just finding motivation in general.
Now you get to enjoy the fruits of my labor, after I heavily teased them on my twitter.

Make sure to give me feedback, report bugs you encounter or just type out your general thoughts on this tram, so I can use that feedback to improve the upcoming Tatra trams!

background info:

These two CKD Tatra units were built in 1977 and converted to bi-directional trams in 1985. They are the successor of the ZT4D-901 and ZT4D-902. They all share the same purpose: driving on Line number 5 to Merseburg, which features no turning loops on one end.
To be able to use Tatra T4D’s on this line, required a big modification to the units, like adding doors on the otherwise door-less side. Another set of taillights were added to the front sides and a electrical wire was installed to the roof, to convert power from the front to the back of the tram, as one of the units was always rotated "the wrong way".
Unfortunately none of the two engines survived to this day, they rode their last ride in the city of Arad, Romania after being sent there in 2005.

The modified units were given their new name "T4D-W", where the "-W" stands for "Wendezug", which roughly translates to "turn train", as the tram was able to turn without turning loops.

In-game:

I chose to represent the units in the year 1988, which is the last year where the trams had the city’s coat of arms on its side.
This Tatra tram is very special in the way that it has doors on both sides of the vehicle body. So you can use this tram for lines where there is tram stops on the left hand side.
Most notably the vanilla four-lane road with tram tracks, which has only tram stops on the left hand side of the track.
As there was some clipping issues with the cims, only the middle doors are usable for them.

The trams max speed is just like the original, 55km/h (11 in-game).
The destination indicator which reads "Einsatzwagen" has line-colored letters.
Indicator, head- and taillights are working.
The hitch between the two units is defined as its own trailer, so the coupling looks connected even in sharp turns.

I strongly advise using the Loading Screen Mod to cut down on file size, as all vehicles share the same textures.
Most of the textures are also shared with my ZT4D-901.

If you want a prop version of the vehicle I advise you to use the Tree and Vehicle Props Mod and its Patch.
I don’t want to waste too much time on creating prop versions of each vehicle, so using this mod is the better option for now.
