Description:

In 1961, Skelmersdale was designated the first New Town since Corby in 1950.
"Old Skem" was a small mining town at the western extremity of the Lancashire coalfield. The new development grew the town sixfold, with a loose grid of main roads and roundabouts at every major junction.

Skelmersdale has had mixed fortunes – it’s considered a safe town, but has suffered from high unemployment and isolation between neighbourhoods. Can you do a better job than the 1960s planners and turn Skem into Lancashire’s crown jewel?

The map includes highway connections (M58 and M6), railway connections (Manchester-Southport Line and Kirby Branch), air connections (Liverpool and Manchester airports), timber, farmland, and plenty of ore.
The River Tawd rises just south of the town and you’ll need to be careful of the springs and streams that feed it.

You will need Mass Transit for this map because of the two-lane highways. I also strongly recommend playing with left-hand traffic only, otherwise the motorway junctions may behave oddly!
No mods are needed although I recommend TM:PE.

This map was made with sysoppl’s heightmap generator[heightmap.skydark.pl].
