The modern TEP70BS mainline passenger diesel locomotive with a capacity of 2942 kW (4000 hp) per section, with a design speed of 160 km/h or 120 km/h and a centralised power supply system for the train cars, has a modular design, which has been adopted by the company as a base for creating a unified range of new locomotives. The TEP70BS diesel locomotive is designed to drive passenger trains of higher comfort on the mainline railways of 1520 mm gauge on the non-electrified sections of the Russian railways.
