Description:

Welcome to Baneque! This map is inspired by the diary of Christopher Columbus’ first voyage towards the Americas. Part of this map tries to recreate places from the book, either using the descriptions given or with the help of Google Maps (shapes are roughly similar to the islands of Cuba, Jamaica and Hispaniola).
The map is completely handmade and I created it so that it would resemble the maps of these times, such as Hispaniola[www.granger.com], from Benedetto Bordone’s Isolario[exhibits.stanford.edu].
The name comes from an island often mentioned by the natives, but never visited by Columbus.
Hope you enjoy this map!

—- DETAILING —-

I suggest you use the Hide It mod to hide the ruined texture by the coasts and under the trees.
Prop Anarchy is also useful to make all of the detailing appear (remember to activate it before loading the game).
I have used the Cleyra Theme along with the Nemesis LUT. You can also use the Relight mod, you can find the settings in the screenshot. There’s less than 190k trees, and lots of them are vanilla, so while there’s quite a bit of detailing in some places, the map should work well on most computers.

—- GAMEPLAY —-

In the start square (in the bay just south of the hill) you can find a water spawn point that will suck away your sewage, this leaves room for a water pump somewhere else without the risk of the two flows combining.Between the two main islands you can find an underwater highway and railway tunnel. I didn’t build the whole thing since realistically there would be too much distance between the two islands, but you can choose whether you want to keep it or delete it.
