Description:

Qianyang Hall by MC100

The Qianyang Hall is the principal hall of Ziwei Palace in Sui Dynasty(581-618), which is located in Luoyang, Henan Province, China. During Sui Dynasty, Luoyang was the capital of China.
In 605, Emperor Yang of Sui decided to build a super palace for himself, thus the Ziwei Palace was constructed in 606. Ziwei means "Polaris" in Chinese, so Ziwei Palace actually means "the Palace of Polaris".
According to records and archaeological studies, Qianyang Hall was 101.4 meters wide, 51.7 meters long and 50 meters tall(including base), which is more than twice as big as the Hall of Supreme Harmony of the Forbidden City in Beijing.
Unfortunately, this magnificent building was destroyed in 621 by Emperor Tang Taizong, because he thought this building was excessively luxury and gigantic, though he regretted later LOL.
