Saab 9-5 Aero SportCombi
The Saab 9-5 SportCombi is the wagon variant of the second-generation 9-5 (aka NG), an executive car made by Swedish automaker Saab which was produced from late-2009 to mid-2011, before the company went under.
While some variants were planned, the SportCombi and the regular sedan were the only ones that came to fruition, while it was intended to be sold for the 2012 model year and there were several pre-orders, the struggling automaker eventually ended production and sales of the 9-5 before the SportCombi could reach dealerships, leaving the sedan to be the only variant of the second-generation 9-5 to officially be sold. In the end, only 33 (or 35 if counting test cars) pre-series SportCombis were made.
Not all hope was lost, as a year after Saab’s demise that its bankruptcy estate started auctioning several unique vehicles that the automaker made in its final year and among those vehicles were SportCombis. Despite warnings from the auctioneers not to use the cars on public roads, Saab enthusiasts bought the cars and made them road-legal by themselves. 27 SportCombis still exist, with a only few of them not being approved for the road, making it a collector’s car and a future classic, but it’s one that can be used.
This is my first asset for the Cities Skylines workshop, and if you can’t tell already isn’t the nicest looking asset out there, this asset is based on the Aero, a top trim 9-5 featuring a different exterior, a prop is also included. The specifications of the models are:
