Flag of Prussia – a major country in Europe and dominant state in the new German empire formed in the 1870s. Its king reigned as German emperor. Its militarist outlook and traditionalism made it out of step with the liberal Weimar Republic. After the defeat of the Third Reich the Allies decided to abolish Prussia, breaking it up, arguing that it was a destabilising force in Germany.
