You DO need electricity! This is a game requirement and cannot be removed.
I highly recommend the Power Transformer (Power Plant) mod. It is simple, very small, attractive and no wiring required. Just drop and go. If you are not using an electricity mod of some kind, you will need to run underground power lines or underwater power lines to this asset. Depending on your situation.
Also, you can overlap this asset on itself for wider runways, or add brighter lights to Airports DLC runways as shown in the screenshots above. As you can see, this asset comes in all red as well. Approach Light System (Updated) RED It is up to you if you want to combine them.
