The SWACE is a small 5-seater station wagon that Suzuki has been selling in the European market since 2020.
It will be supplied by Toyota on an OEM basis, and is a badge engineering model of the Corolla Touring Sport (Japanese name: Corolla Touring) hybrid.
In February 2017, Suzuki signed a memorandum of understanding with Toyota for a business alliance.
One of the contents was "Toyota’s electrification technology and supply of electric vehicles to Suzuki" and "Suzuki’s strength in supplying small cars and small powertrains to Toyota".
After that, Toyota announced "OEM supply of electric vehicles to Suzuki in the European market in order to clear the strict CO2 regulations scheduled to be introduced in 2021 in Europe" in the content of the collaboration study between the two companies.
Following the RAV4 PHV OEM Across announced in July 2020, the Swace was announced in September of the same year following the conclusion of an agreement on a capital alliance in August of the same year.
In return, Suzuki supplied Toyota with a compact car, Baleno, to the Indian market (local name Granza) and the South African market (Starlet) on an OEM basis.
The Vitara Brezza is OEM-supplied to the Indian market as the "Urban Cruiser," which revived the name of the second-generation ist for Europe.
