Dawnland
Dawnland is a map based on a coastal area in New England, inspired by the states of Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. It’s a completely fictional location and heightmap, but I was looking at the real life locations of Portland, Newburyport, and Portsmouth.
The name comes from the Wabanaki people (translating to "People of the Dawnland") who have inhabited the region now called Maine and New Brunswick (and some other nearby regions) for more than 12,000 years.
The coastline is inspired by rocky coasts all over Maine. The swamps are also inspired by areas in Maine and Massachusetts. The map is bordered by some smaller hills commonly found all over New England. There’s arable farmland in both the river valleys and on both the coastal buildplanes.
NOTES:
1. All listed mods (except for Theme Mixer 2, Fine Road Tools and Fine Road Anarchy) and networks are REQUIRED to run this map, including the dependencies for those. If you have any issues with the map, please make sure you have those installed!
2. The trees and rocks listed are not required but missing them will make your map look somwhat empty.
3. This map has around 225k trees, so while Unlimited Trees isn’t required to run this, it will help!
4. The used concrete national highways, while really good looking, become a little glitchy with some types of junctions, and the vanilla national highways from Mass Transit are used to fix those.
5. This isn’t a megacity map (unless you flatten the land and remove a lot of trees). The best way to play this map is by making two medium-sized cities and small towns all over the map connected via road, rail and sea!
THEME MIX:
This map uses the SCT-HOMECOMING theme as it’s base theme with the Autumn Theme’s sand texture. Though it’ll probably look just fine with only SCT-HOMECOMING. Both Theme Mixer 2 and the aforementioned map themes are in the one-click collection!
