Description:

King’s Bay is a northern frontier ripe for a city to emerge. Here, in a bay surrounded by massive snowcapped mountains, lays an open plain awaiting for a new city mayor to take action and utilize the area how they best see fit. Will the peaceful bay area turn into a bustling major city with busy industries and an extensive harbour, or will it retain its peaceful tone and become a home to a more of a rural township? The choice is yours!

This map aims to strike a balance to fit multiple playstyles ranging from a pure vanilla game to a more of a realism build. The map is not overly detailed but has some little touches to it to bring it to life without being overbearing or distracting if you’re going for a less detailed city build.

  • A Vanilla map. Just a custom theme mix, which is optional as well – the map will work without any mods using just the vanilla map themes. By default the map loads in with the vanilla Temperate theme. See below for a visuals comparison between various map themes. Also if you’re hesitant with theme mixes, please check out closer how the map looks with just the Generic Temperate 4K theme alone, a few more images at the end of the screenshot reel.
  • 216K trees, well below the vanilla limit.
  • All transportation modes present and easily accessible early on.
  • The entirety of the map’s center is completely flat for easy building. The shape of the map breaks down the landscape however, so there are no overly large, boring flat areas, keeping the gameplay fresh.

  • Please note that no mods are required to run the map, but in order to achieve the same visuals as in the screenshots, here are the mods you’ll need to be using.

    Map Theme:

  • Using Theme Mixer, apply the King’s Bay Theme Mix. The theme mix is a mix of Generic Temperate 4K and Alps Dolomites so you’ll need to have those subscribed in order for the theme mix to work.
    • NOTE⭐: If you don’t mind giving up the snowcaps on the mountains, you can use the Generic Temperate 4K alone and have the same exact visuals, just without the snowcaps (no need for the theme mixer mod). The only texture taken from the Alps Dolomites theme into the theme mix is the oil texture as snow.

    Visuals:

  • LUT: Relight 3 Soft
  • Daylight Classic, set "all to classic"
  • Clouds & Fog Toggler to disable clouds and edge fog (can be done via Hide it too)

Also please note that in order to make the map look visually pleasing, you can use other visual mods like Render it to achieve a similar look. The above mentioned mods are simply the setup that I use personally.

  • Network Anarchy for a better gameplay experience. If you wish to keep all the smallest tree & prop details, you’ll need to be using Network Anarchy to prevent some trees & props from disappearing at launch due to collision. Also, I highly recommend using Network Anarchy anyway with this map as the highway lanes are within collision distance from each other, meaning if you’re not using an anarchy mod of any kind for the roads, you won’t be able to edit the highways. Regardless, Network Anarchy is a mod I consider such an important QoL mod that I recommend using it on any map you’re playing on.
  • 25 Tiles or 81 Tiles to unlock more buildable space. You’ll be good with just the vanilla 9 tiles too as with 9 tiles you can cover most of the buildable space anyway.

Q: Is this map really vanilla??
A: Yes, the map really is vanilla. The only thing not vanilla per se on this map is the theme mix used – and the map will work with the vanilla temperate theme as well, just with slightly different visuals.

Q: Will you release an alternative version of this map?
A: Unfortunately I have no intentions to create any alternative versions of this map.

Q: "My map is broken!"
A: I’m always happy to help. When you need help, please try to provide some details to your issue. This way I can provide you with more useful and specific tips and advice!

Q: "Kawabunga wiguwada dabadoo"
A: What?

After a long hiatus, it feels good to publish something again. For a long time (probably for a few years now) I’ve had an itch for creating a map with snowcapped mountains but never had the right inspiration for it. I’d like to thank ACanadianMoose_ for providing me with some inspiration for the map with a map commission, that inspiration being the British Columbia region. Whilst inspiration was drawn from the British Columbia, the map itself is purely fictional and is not based on any real life location and is mostly hand drawn. I’d also like to thank AvoirRev for a quick quality check for the finished map before release. Also a shout out to all the helpful and kind creators & people at the CS Map Makers Discord server[discord.gg]. Really happy to be a part of this community.

Creation time from start to finish was about 50 hours, including all the heightmap and playtesting work, and was done over the span of two weeks.

I’m super happy with the end result and I hope you’ll find as much enjoyment playing the map as I found creating it.

Thank you for your interest in my work!
