Die Ortstelle Reichenau ist eine der ersten und traditionsreichsten Bergrettungsortsstellen Österreichs.
Der Gedanke einer freiwilligen Hilfsorganisation im Bergland wurde, nach einem tragischen Lawinenunfall auf der Rax im Jahr 1896, von Reichenau ausgehend in die Tat umgesetzt.

The Reichenau location is one of the first and most traditional Mountain Rescue locations in Austria.
After a tragic avalanche accident on the Rax in 1896, the idea of a voluntary aid organization in the mountains was put into practice in Reichenau.
