Description:
TLDR

Required mods:
Tree anarchy
Prop anarchy
Why? Because I forgot to turn off Prop Anarchy, so I figured I might as well add Tree Anarchy

Required DLCs/Items:
Mass Transit
Vista Point Overlook – a park by Larry Skylines (Parklife DLC required for this)

**Updated – removed the 4 Lane Avenue without Parking by Delta 5-1** No longer required

Theme/LUT: Owl’s Los Angeles / Vanilla Temperate
I used the temperate LUT and increased the exposure a bit to make it brighter.

Highly Recommended Mods/DLC:

TM:PE
Node Controller
Intersection Marking Tool
All interchanges have been optimized with these mods
I have also adjusted speed limits on the 4 lane road with median that is used as an arterial to 55 mph so vehicles travel at an appropriate, faster speed. I also adjusted the speed on the two lane national highway that runs across the map, just below the start square, to a lower speed limit (50 mph) so that dummy traffic will not use it as a shortcut. Most of the traffic coming in to the start square will use this two lane national highway.

Natural Disasters DLC
Campus DLC
European Suburbia CCP
These are for a custom construction yard I made on the map

Special thanks to Teddy Radko for his custom bridge on this map.

The Story:

It’s spring in California, the rains are over and the green grasses are just starting to turn golden. The last water of the winter rains is trickling into the lake and the long, dry summer is approaching, which brings a lot of people to the lake for recreation. Oak trees are abundant in this area, not your typical SoCal beaches and palm trees, but an oasis in the hills.

The Dragon is made from a heightmap of Lake Nacimiento, California. In reality the area is all hills, with a small population near the lake (less than 3,000 people) and I had to do a significant amount of flattening and smoothing to make this a playable map. In 1956, construction was completed on the earth fill dam that formed Lake Nacimiento. Located on the Central Coast in northern San Luis Obispo County, California, Lake Nacimiento serves as a reservoir providing water to the cities of Paso Robles, Templeton, Atascadero and San Luis Obispo, as well as recharging groundwater in nearby Monterey County. Referred to as “The Dragon” or “Dragon Lake” because of its shape, Lake Nacimiento is a popular destination for camping, boating, wakeboarding, and water skiing. At full capacity, the lake is 18 miles (29 km) long and holds 377,000 acre-feet (465,000,000 cubic meters) of water.

In reality there is no outside connection via the water, but there is a shipping route that comes in from only one side of the map – the dragon’s tail – if you choose to have harbors. Rail was a challenge on this map. It is admittedly not very realistic, especially toward the edges of the map, but I tried to keep it as level as I could through the 25 tiles. With the large lake in the center and all of the surrounding hills, The Dragon presents a unique build challenge.
