This is my first map, built from scratch! Please be nice as there may be some rookie mistakes. I’m doing this for fun! Please read the description in full, especially if you encounter issues. I am not responsible for performance issues and I don’t intend to optimize it for less powerful machines.

I purposely kept the road network as close to real life as I could, so 81 Tiles is required if you’d like to upgrade the roads.

Huge thanks to the countless asset and mod creators for what they do. They’ve truly made this game my absolute favorite to play.

IMPORTANT REQUIRED MODS:

Please subscribe to the required mods. For your convenience I have created a collection for you to download that is linked at the beginning of the description. Please also make sure you have the Mass Transit DLC.

Networks – REQUIRED! REQUIRED! REQUIRED!

I detailed the map with rural electric networks and guardrails, the map will not load without these. Please see required mods list.

Procedural Objects – REQUIRED!

The rocks on the peninsula will not appear properly with out this mod.

81 Tiles – REQUIRED!

Unless you want to be stuck with SH1 being a one lane highway, this mod will allow you to upgrade map’s road connections. I wanted to keep the base map as realistic as possible, with some creative license as well.

Tree Anarchy – REQUIRED!

THE MAP WILL NOT LOAD WITHOUT IT. I went overboard with the foliage…

Assets – RECOMMENDED!

Rocks, trees, bushes, the map wouldn’t look great without those. Please see the required mods list.

Misc. Mods – RECOMMENDED!

Ultimate Level of Detail is highly encouraged, there are a lot of trees –

My Render It and Relight settings are shown in screenshots. Current LUT is Real Neutral LUT – for Relight, Daylight Classic and Vanilla.

Kaikōura, New Zealand

Located on the east coast of New Zealand’s South Island, Kaikōura boasts a unique combination of snow capped mountains and temperate Pacific coastal sea breeze. Two hours north of Christchurch the region is known for its diverse marine wildlife and rich geography. It’s often a favorite among those who enjoy marine life including whale watchers and seal lovers alike.

The coastal town of Kaikōura sits on New Zealand’s State Highway 1, a one lane highway that stretches the length of South Island, NZ. The region the town sits is seismically active and only recently recovered from a 7.8-magnitude earthquake which cut off train and vehicle access on 14 November 2016 until it could be fully restored a year later at a cost of NZ$1.1 billion.
