What’s New:
Driving Experience Overhaul

After a long period of development, the driving experience overhaul led and improved by bradleyq has now been released. This update rewrites a significant portion of the vehicle handling logic. Specifically, more realistic vehicle parameters have been incorporated into the calculation system, including but not limited to grip, downforce, spring damping, FWD/RWD drivetrain layouts, and tire physics. At the same time, vehicle appearances have also been enriched and updated to create a more authentic driving experience.Words alone cannot fully capture the extent of this update, so the best way to experience it is to get behind the wheel yourself. Below, we will detail other updates beyond this overhaul.Additionally, bradleyq is also developing a rewritten version based on this mod (named "Drive It"), which is gradually adding support for more vehicle types. As of this writing, the mod has introduced additional features compared to this update, including a more intuitive speed display, gear shifting functionality, and tire burnout marks. If you’re interested, you may compile it yourself[github.com].As of May 3, no conflicts have been detected between the two mods, and they can be used simultaneously.Once again, thank you all for your continued interest and support!

  • Race Day Support: You can now start driving directly from the race panel
  • Underground Road Rendering: Enabled by default. Now, roads without tunnel textures (vanilla) will be rendered additionally when driving mode is active, making it easier to drive underground.
  • Unstuck: Default key is R
  • The Main Panel is now draggable
  • Add search and color changing feature
  • Please refer to the Change Notes for more information.
How to Use:
  • Click on any vehicle, then click the steering wheel icon (see figure 4) to start driving.
  • Open the main panel, select a vehicle (a preview will appear on the right), click "Spawn Vehicle" (see figure 3), and then select a road segment to start driving.
  • Control — W/A/S/D (default), see mod settings or FPS Camera settings for other key mapping settings
  • You could use the arrow keys to adjust the camera offset.> To adjust rotation precisely, press and hold Ctrl at the same time.
  • By clicking the four-colored button in the Main Panel, the vehicle will vary its color in 4 defined colors of the asset. You can adjust them in Advanced Vehicle Options mod.
Meta:
  • Defaults to third person, but if you need first person, just use the arrow keys to adjust the camera offset, or adjust the "Move/Offset forward" in the "Camera Offset" setting to an appropriate positive value.
  • The actual maximum velocity/speed of the vehicle may not always reach the limit in the settings.
  • Vehicle effects, etc. can be played only when the city simulation is NOT paused.
  • This mod will call the settings for the FPS Camera. For other behaviors (camera related, smooth transition, info panel, control keys…) please go to the main mod settings.
  • Be aware that this update involves complex calculations, which might affect performance.
