There are radio stations in the game with sarcastic advertising, but where are the news broadcasts about the various events and issues in the city? What? Chirper? You don’t read it anyway – so here is the Cities Skylines News Network
What is it?
A collection of custom made news radio broadcasts, made using xVASynth v2, Typecast and VoxBox, accompanied by fitting sound effects from old games. The news service jingle is self made on Music maker, and one other monster sound effect is custom made by a friend. Used game SFX is from Simcity 3000, Cities XL, Real Donald Trump Real Estate Tycoon, Postal and Postal 2. No licensed music included. Voice models are from Mass Effect, Skyrim, Fallout 3-4 and Cyberpunk.
What’s included? What will I hear?
You will hear short news clips about various events and issues in the Collosal city, Maxis city and Montecristo city. Bonus material a reference to my other radio mod: Dystopian Radio Public Announcements. And a political mock commercial from mayoral candidates Joe and Donny. Overall the news often has sarcastic jokes, ironic tone, all may not be desired for minors or insensitive and obnoxious people. Along with various references. In this way the CSNN takes inspiration from Weazel News.
How do I use it?
Have CSL Music mod enabled. Either you just select CSNN from the list and it will play all the newsclip or select the CSL Music mix option and it will play randomly between your other songs. Or find the folder with the sound clips in the workshop folder and copy paste into the folder of the radio station you prefer.
It all sounds too robotic!
Really, I think it sounds just as good as Mass Effect Andromeda or Oblivion dialogues!
Will you make more clips, there are too few?
Maybe. If I got inspiration and people would like these ones so far.
