Calm City Simulation
… let the city breathe…
LAST UPDATE 09/04/2026:
This update improves compatibility and stability of the simulation system.π§ Changes
– Reworked divisor scaling for smoother and more natural simulation behavior
– Reduced abrupt changes in citizen and tourist update frequencyThe full source code is now publicly available on GitHub:

Cities: Skylines is a highly dynamic simulation where player actions can trigger immediate and sometimes abrupt reactions. Citizens and tourists constantly make new decisions and frequently change their destinations.
Calm City Simulation slows this behavior down.
The mod hooks into the UpdateLocation logic and makes people stay longer in one place instead of constantly switching targets. This creates a calmer and more natural-looking city.
At the same time, system load is reduced:
β Fewer pathfinding calculations
β Fewer active vehicles due to slowed behavior
β More stable simulation
Especially in complex transfer hubs or large train stations, improvements in performance (FPS) can be observed. This mod has been tested over an extended period and continuously refined to ensure stable and balanced behavior.
β Savegame compatible
β Compatibility with the Real Time mod (after consultation with its developer)

Tourism:
Depending on the mod settings, weekly tourists can be reduced significantly β in some cases by up to 50%. Donβt worry: tourists will still visit your city, just less frequently and in a more controlled way.
Please note:
The simulation is intentionally slower. Changes are not immediately visible and depend on hardware, camera view, city complexity, as well as the selected mod settings.
Work in progress:
This mod is still under active development and will be expanded in the future.
