Description:
Politics and Elections Mod

Citizens vote, parties form coalitions, and the winning coalition actually changes your city. This mod adds a parliamentary democracy on top of Cities:
Skylines 1: elections at a tunable interval, voters that react to their own life conditions, coalitions that enact real tax changes, budget changes, and
city policies.

Backup your save before using this mod.

It writes to vanilla state (taxes, budgets, city policies) and stores custom data in your savegame.

Features
  • Democratic elections with configurable term and campaign length.
  • Parliament size scales with your population (1 seat per ~1000 citizens).
  • Full party editor: name, color, ideology, budget and tax platform, supported vanilla policies.
  • Native-style policy icons, showing whatever policies your DLC combination has.
  • Voter trait sliders: nudge how education, wealth, employment, age, sickness, and pollution affect voting.
  • Grievance-based voting: citizens care about high taxes, poor health, unemployment, high crime.
  • Deficit pressure: when the city loses money, voters drift right.
  • Coalitions form by ideological compatibility. Snap re-election if no coalition is possible.
  • Coalition automatically sets taxes, budgets, and vanilla city policies.
  • Chirper integration with a Minimize Chirps toggle.
  • Election Stats window with bar charts for "why people voted" plus stacked bars by age, education, and wealth.
  • Info-view overlay tinting residential buildings by dominant voting party.
  • Parliament hemicycle ordered left to right by ideology.
  • Everything saves with your game.

Quick start
  • Ctrl + P to open the main panel.
  • Call snap election to force a vote now.
  • Manage Parties to customize the political landscape.
  • Voter Traits to shape demographic leanings.
  • Election Stats to see who voted for whom and why.
  • The Politics button (top right) toggles the info-view overlay.

Known limitations
  • The vanilla Economy window and City Policies window may not live-update. The underlying state does change.
  • Pollution, noise, and low-land-value grievances are disabled for now. Crime, taxes, health,
education, and employment are all live.

Nerd details

Voter decision

econ = sum of trait biases + pollution proxy + deficit pressure + jitter total(party) = 0.4 * ideology_fit + 0.5 * grievance_match + 0.1 * noise

Grievances (sampled per citizen): high taxes, poor health, unemployment, poor education, high crime. Each gets scored against each party’s budget deltas and platform.

Coalition is greedy: largest party invites the closest-ideology partner until a majority is reached (max 4 parties).

Bill tally: supporters 95% yes, other coalition 80% yes, opposition distance-weighted.

Deficit pressure: every 7 in-game days, if weekly income is negative. Voter econ axis gets a bump toward the right.
