Description:

With this mod you will be able to automatically convert existing ‘metro’-trains into real metro trains without content creators remaking their assets. Which is especially important since Sunset Harbor patch now added ground metros to vanilla!

I highly recommend using this mod together with my Metro Station Converter that is able to convert existing train stations into vanilla metro stations (without using MOM).

PLEASE. READ THE DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY! 🙂

Snowfall DLC users can benefit as well. This mod also converts ‘tram’-trains into Snowfall DLC trams. Why can that be helpful? Because those ‘tram’-trains have window illumination! (I’ll tell you a secret: one can add illuminated windows to Snowfall trams too). And of course, couple of those assets were never remade into Snowfall trams.
Of course, Snowfall DLC for this mod to convert trams.

This mod also requires Prefab Hook to function..

All assets are spread into large groups (see options entry screenshot) and those groups can be enabled/disabled through mod’s optons. You can also open this mod’s config file ( %LocalAppData%Colossal OrderCities_SkylinesTrainConverter-Config.xml ) and add exclude="true" to assets you don’t want to be converted. Example of excluded asset item:

<items workshop-id="500938881" description="Vienna Underground T Stock" exclude="true" />

You can also add your own conversions by adding the above line to some asset group (without exclude="true" of course). Make sure you added line to correct asset group (like <underground-trains-to-metro>) and that group is enabled in mod’s options. Each asset can only be present in one group. Please make sure it’s not already present in a different group before adding it (it it’s present just move it from one group to another).

Like AVO, this mod allows to replace last trailer with the leading trailer (add replace-last-with-trailer="true" to item).

The mod will generated the config file on first launch (getting to main menu is enough). If you edited the config while the Cities: Skylines was running you will have to restart it. If you screwed config, delete it and the game will restore defaults. I’ll add more assets to default config later but they won’t be added to existing configs.

You can see all default pre-set conversions here.

How to install:
– Install Prefab Hook
– Install Train Converter
– Enable Prefab Hook in Content Manager
– Enable Train Converter in Content Manager

Save games:
– This mod doesn’t save any custom data and shouldn’t break save files. But you should be aware that conversions will revert back without this mod which can lead to funny results. As usual, backup your city before experimenting with this mod.

UPDATE 5 (3/28/2020)
Fixed: Now works for vanilla too! MOM is no longer needed!
