Rotonde de la Villette [Paris]
La rotonde de la Villette, or Barrière Saint-Martin, is one of the toll gates belonging to the Wall of Fermiers généraux. Built just before the Revolution by architect Claude Nicolas Ledoux as part of the Farmers General wall, this building was the largest and most imposing one of the "series". This building, which still exists, is located on the current Place de la Bataille-de-Stalingrad, in the 19th arrondissement, facing the Bassin de la Villette.
Since 2009, the monument is occupied by a restaurant and a gallery of contemporary art.
