The PP E1000, commonly known as PP express, is the main types of express train operated by the Taiwan Railway Administration ( 台鐵TRA ). It is also the first aerodynamic design train in Taiwan.
PP was produced in 1997 by Hyundai Heavy Industries ( now part of Hyundai Mobis ) but the most important locomotive tenders were transferred to the Union Carriage and Wagon ( UCW, now named Alstom Ubunye ).
In 2005, due to poor design and construction of the E1000 locomotive, the trains often stopped in the middle, resulting in many delays. Now vehicle status has stabilized after eight transformations.
