Adelaide, SA – Lights Vision
Adelaide, the capital of South Australia, located in Kaurna country on the Adelaide Plains.
This map, Light’s Vision, is based on the present day layout of Adelaide’s arterial roads, most of which is based upon Colonel William Light’s original survey and plan of the Adelaide region 1836-1840. The CBD and North Adelaide are fully laid out (minus alleys and laneways).
This map stretches from Birkenhead, Dry Creek and Modbury in the north to Mitcham and Morphettville in the south. Highway entries are via South Road, the Southeast Freeway, North East Road and Salisbury Highway/Port River Expressway.
The Gawler, Seaford, Grange, Outer Harbor and Belair railway lines are all there as well as separated ARTC/GWA freight rail (except for the Goodwood and Torrens rail junctions). Islington and Keswick rail yards are also present.
As the driest city in the driest state on the driest inhabitied continent, water is hard to come by and the Torrens river will need to be supplemented with water reclamation and water towers.
This map will replace the 2015 version I created which will be deleted.
